Alright..the best books in the world are, obviously, the Lord of the Rings series, followed by the Silmarillion (Spelling?).

After that, there's the Honor Harrington series by David Weber, The Stars at War are also very good. Then, there's Harry Turtledove who writes Alternate History.

No i think earagon took a much better plot but LOR will always be a classic

Jakob's Star Trilogy is a really great book series. they are about a family before, during, and after WWII. They start right after WWI. The first book is about Jakob's mother. It then continues for his whole life. The books are long but I would recommend them to anyone.

No, Eragon is not really that good...I mean, this blonde PANSY decides to walk around this wierd land? Please!

Also, why is the Empire evil? It is never really said, after all, what evil did they do?

It is a neat series, heck, I'm reading them aloud to my parents and sister, but still!

Post Script: The movie bit!

I just did a book project on Dragon Rider. It was a good book, I kind of like fantasy a lot. Next I'm planning on reading Eragon; I heard that was a good book.

I just finished reading JPod by Douglas Coupland. It was a very funny book about 6 people that design video games. I also think it's funny that Coupland kept bringing himself into the book.

D.N angel is probably the best comic ever!

LOR is really good eragons movie is cool to

Eragon is an awsome series. the Empire is evil b/c Galbatorix, the king, along with the Forsworn, killed the Riders when they did nothing to deserve it. Oh and by the way, Eragon is NOT A PANSY!! All of this is said by Brom in the beginning of the first book.
PS: the movie was horrible

Manga is my favorite kind of books. My favorites are Yotsuba&!, Azumanga Diaoh, and His and Hers Circumstances. (Kare Kano) I like the Dear Dumb Diary books too, even though they're not mangas. :)

I love romances they are the coolest thing about Japanese ainme chcek these turn twisting anime:MARS,kARE kANO,FRUIT BASKET,RAVE MASTER,MODEL and DEMON DIARY

Michael Walker said...

Yeah, Galbatorix and the Forsworn killed the entirety of the riders, but BY BROM'S OWN ADMISSION the Rider's had grown lazy and arrogent in their dominion of the land. So, they deserved to be killed off!

Another good book is the Chronicals of Narnia, but it does leave a lot of holes in the story that are never really explained.

Eragon is a good book, yeah, but there are way better series, out there, people.

Anonymous said...

Brom did not say that the riders deseved to be killed off! That was Murtagh at the end of the second book!

Anonymous said...

One awsome book series is the Maximum Ride series, by James Patterson

Michael Walker said...

Yes, that there is. But, Eragon provides a nice hotbed of contention, making nice long debates very possible and enjoyable.

Eric Flint is also a decent writer, and, of course, Tom Clancy is hard to ignore.

Michael Walker said...

No, in the FIRST BOOK, Brom was telling the story of how Galbatorix rose to power.

He said, and I quoth: "...but the Riders had grown lazy and arrogent in their power..." Suggesting that Galbatorix had just pruned the bush, not that he did an "evil" deed. If you're going to read the books and then debate them, read them FULLY.

I cannot see why people like the Manga books. Aren't they just basicly picture books?

Michael Walker said...

Basically...Except that they suppossedly have really cool graphics and pictures. Personally, I find it really stupid.

Michael Walker said...

Is is just me or is this post abandoned? It seems like nobody pays any attention to this area anymore!

Anonymous said...

Aren't graphics pictures, too?

Has anyone ever read Wicked the story about the Wicked Witch of the West? I recently got it and want to know if it is any good.

I finised Harry Potter and I finished it in about 9 hours. It was the best book in my opinion. Even thought many people die on both sides of the war it is simply the greatest.

I am about half way through reading the last Harry Potter. I am enjoying it but am trying to relish each page since this is the last one.

Have you seen the latest Harry movie? I saw it over the weekend. Not as good as the book but then movies never are as good as the book.

The movie was pretty good. I thought it seemed to jump around alot. They never seemed to stay in one place.

I finished the 7th book while I was om vacation. When I was done I read this book that had a bunch of things that they thought would happen. It was fun to see what they predicted and laugh at how wrong they were!

A. Bodeau, MGJH Library Media Specialist said...

I agree with you about the movie! This was the first Harry movie that I thought you needed to have read the book beforehand because they jumped around so much.

I have finished reading Pretties and have started Specials by Scott Westerfield. I am not usually a sci/fi reader but I like this series.

Anonymous said...

Specials was my favorite.

A. Bodeau, MGJH Library Media Specialist said...

I think Specials tied together all 3 books nicely.

What other books have you been reading?

Are you in the student book club?

Will we start book club earlier this year?

I just read a book called "The Empty Mirror". I thought it was pretty good. If you like stories about the unnatural and mysterious, I would probably recommend this book to you...
